There is something distinct about the relationship between a mother and her daughter.
It often begins in nearness.
A child leaning in without thinking.
A face turned upward for reassurance.
A body that still fits easily against hers.
But unlike some relationships, this one does not only move outward.
It changes, yes — but it also returns.
Again and again, across the years, daughters find themselves beside their mothers in new ways: as children, as teenagers, as young women, as mothers themselves, and sometimes as grown daughters standing next to the woman who first held them.
That is part of what moves me most about this work.
Many of the portraits in this collection were made at different stages of life. Some hold the softness of early childhood. Some carry laughter and ease between adult daughters and older mothers. Some hold the weight of time — what it means to still have your mother beside you, or to be photographed with her while you can.
This portfolio is a study of that relationship as I see it.
These mother & daughter portraits are not built around trends, props, or performance. They are shaped by closeness, expression, memory, and the visual echoes that pass between women of the same line.
Some images are quiet.
Some are radiant.
Some hold three generations in a single frame.
Some feel almost like a conversation without words.
These are not only portraits of mothers and daughters.
They are portraits of resemblance.
Of comfort.
Of what is carried forward.
Of what it means to be seen by someone who has known you from the beginning.
And sometimes, they are simply a way of keeping something precious visible.
