Headshot Photographer In Johannesburg
The photograph people meet before they meet you
Your headshot is often working before you are.
On LinkedIn. Your company website. An article. A proposal. A speaker profile.
It doesn't need to say everything about you.
It needs to look professional, current and recognisably you.
One strong portrait can do a great deal.

Is a headshot what you need?
A headshot is the right place to start when you need a small number of strong professional portraits.
If you need photographs for several different uses, with changes in clothing, expression and composition, personal branding may suit you better.
If you need consistent portraits across a team or organisation, I offer a separate corporate headshot service.
One person. One clear job for the photograph.

You don't need to know how to pose
Most people don't.
That's why direction matters.
I will guide you throughout — posture, angle, expression, shoulders, hands and all the small things you shouldn't have to think about yourself.
Small adjustments can make an enormous difference.
You don't need to perform for the camera.
You just need someone who knows what to look for.
What happens in the studio
All headshot sessions take place in my Johannesburg studio.
We will look at the clothing you've brought, decide what we're going to photograph and take it from there.
I will direct you throughout.
We work carefully, but we don't need to make this complicated.
The purpose is simple: to make a strong professional portrait that looks like you.
Not a version of you invented for the camera.
What to wear
Simple, well-fitting clothing photographs beautifully.
Bring a few options, neatly pressed and on hangers, and we can decide together what works best.
Look at each garment carefully before you bring it.
Avoid anything faded, frayed, badly creased or showing signs of wear such as pilling or loose threads. These small details are much more visible in a finished portrait than you might expect.
A dark jacket with a lighter shirt or top is always useful. Simple jewellery works well. If your hands may be included, don't forget your nails.
Professional makeup can also be arranged if you would like it.
Bring fewer things in good condition rather than lots of options.
Lighting
My studio gives me complete control over the light.
I've been photographing people in the studio since 2005, and lighting remains one of the most important parts of what I do.
It shapes the face, changes the feeling of a portrait and allows me to make very small adjustments that matter.
Good lighting shouldn't announce itself.
Retouching
Every portrait you select is individually retouched by me.
Temporary distractions such as blemishes, stray hairs and minor marks can go.
Your face stays.
I don't believe retouching should make you look like somebody else.
You should still recognise yourself.
Headshots work particularly well for:
- executives and business owners
- attorneys, doctors and other professionals
- consultants and academics
- speakers and authors
- people updating LinkedIn or a company profile
If your photograph represents you before you've had the chance to introduce yourself, it matters.
Your headshot often gets there first.
The studio
I have specialised in portrait photography since 2005 and am one of only two Master Portrait Photographers in Africa accredited by The Portrait Masters.
My Johannesburg studio is fully equipped with professional lighting and backup power.
It is private, quiet and built for portraiture.
Everything we need is here.
Headshot pricing
Headshot sessions begin with a R3,000 session fee.
Your portrait collection is selected when you book because the number of final photographs helps determine what we need to create during the session.
Foundation
Three portraits for someone who needs a small, focused set of professional headshots.
Signature
Seven portraits with greater variation and more options to choose from.
Legacy
Twelve portraits for someone who regularly needs professional images for different uses.
Additional portraits can be purchased after your session.
