Family Maternity Portraits
The people who were waiting too
Pregnancy changes a family before the baby arrives.
A couple is about to become three.
A child is about to become a brother or sister.
Even the family dog is about to discover that things are changing. 😜
A maternity portrait does not have to be only about the woman carrying the baby.
Sometimes it is about everyone who was waiting.
Children do not need to perform
Children are welcome to be themselves.
They may stand close, climb in, lose interest and come back again.
I am not looking for a perfectly arranged family.
I am looking at the people who are there.
And sometimes a child wrapped around Mum tells us more than everyone looking at the camera ever could.
Partners belong in the photograph
There is no prescribed way to photograph the two of you.
Some portraits are close and quiet. Others are simply the two of you standing together.
The point is not to manufacture romance for the camera.
This is the two of you before you became three.
What to wear
Keep it simple.
Black or neutral clothing works particularly well in my studio. Coordinate rather than match, and avoid strong patterns, logos and clothing that competes for attention.

Come as the family you are now
There is no requirement to include anyone.
You may want the session entirely for yourself.
You may want one portrait with your partner and spend the rest of the session alone.
Or the photographs you keep may be the ones where everybody piled in.
We make room for all of it.
