When the portrait represents more than the person
An executive portrait often has a bigger job to do.
It may appear on a company website, in an annual report, alongside an interview, on a conference programme or in the media.
The photograph represents the person.
Sometimes it represents the organisation too.
I photograph CEOs, founders, directors and senior professionals who need a portrait for the more public parts of their work.
The title doesn't make the portrait. The person does.
Is an executive portrait what you need?
If you need a straightforward professional photograph for LinkedIn or a company profile, a headshot may be all you need.
If you need a broader collection of photographs for your website and different professional uses, personal branding may suit you better.
An executive portrait sits somewhere else.
It is for the person whose photograph may accompany an annual report, leadership profile, media interview, keynote, board announcement or other public-facing work.

You don't need to look important
Most executives I photograph are not interested in looking powerful.
They want to look like themselves.
Professional. Approachable. Assured.
My job is not to manufacture authority for the camera.
I will guide posture, expression, angle and all the small details that make the difference, without turning the portrait into a performance.
You already have the job. We don't need to photograph the title.
What happens in the studio
All executive portraits are photographed in my Johannesburg studio.
We will establish where the portrait needs to be used, look at the clothing you've brought and decide what the photograph needs to do.
Then I photograph you.
I will direct you throughout, making small adjustments to posture, expression and position as we work.
The process is focused and doesn't need to take all day.
Your time matters too.
What to wear
Bring a few well-fitting options that reflect how you normally dress for your role.
Clothing should be freshly pressed and in excellent condition. Look carefully for fading, fraying, pilling or loose threads before you bring it — the camera sees more than you might expect.
Jackets photograph particularly well and give us options without requiring a complete change of clothes.
Bring fewer things in good condition rather than lots of options.
Lighting and retouching
My studio gives me complete control over the light, allowing me to make small changes according to the person and the purpose of the portrait.
Every portrait you select is individually retouched by me.
Temporary distractions can go.
Character stays.
Polished doesn't have to mean perfected.

I have specialised in portrait photography since 2005 and am one of only two Master Portrait Photographers in Africa accredited by The Portrait Masters.
My Johannesburg studio is fully equipped with professional lighting and backup power.
It is private, quiet and built for portraiture.

Executive portrait pricing
The session fee is R3,000.
The session fee covers the photography session, preparation beforehand, my direction throughout and the preparation of your photographs for selection.
When you book, you choose and pay for one of three portrait collections together with your session fee.
After the session, you can add additional portraits if there are more you would like to keep.

Foundation — 3 portraits

For someone who needs a small, focused set of professional portraits.
Signature — 7 portraits

Total investment including session fee: R9,500
For someone who needs greater variation and more options across different professional uses.
Legacy — 12 portraits

Total investment including session fee: R14,500
For someone who regularly needs professional portraits for different uses.
Additional portraits are R1,500 each.
A black-and-white alternate version of a purchased portrait is R1,000 per portrait.
