My maternity portraits are created in my Johannesburg studio for women who want to remember this time, and for the partners and families who are part of it.
These are not trend-led photographs.
They are portraits shaped by light, form and the person in front of me.
I have photographed maternity portraits for more than two decades.
Black backgrounds, sculpted light and simple styling keep the attention where it belongs.
On you.
On the changing shape of your body.
And on this brief time before your baby arrives.
Pregnancy rarely belongs to one person alone.
Partners, children and pets are welcome to be part of the portraits.
Sometimes it is a hand on the bump. A child tucked in close. The two of you together before you become three.
Sometimes it is simply the family as it is now, just before it changes.
Most maternity sessions are photographed between 30 and 35 weeks, when the bump is clearly defined and movement is still comfortable.
You do not need to know how to pose.
I will guide you throughout.
