Women Portrait Photographer Johannesburg
You do not need to know what to do
Most women who come to my Johannesburg studio are not used to being photographed.
Some arrive confidently.
Others tell me immediately that they do not like being photographed, do not know how to pose, or worry that they will feel awkward.
You do not need to arrive knowing what to do.
I guide you throughout the session — where to stand, what to do with your hands, how to position your body and where to look.
There is time to settle in.
You simply need to arrive.
What happens in the studio
My studio is in Blairgowrie, Randburg.
I work simply, usually with one light, a black background and very little else in the frame.
During the session we will make different portraits, changing body position, expression, clothing and the way the light falls.
I will show you what I am seeing and make small adjustments as we work.
Nothing depends on you knowing how to pose.
That is my job.
It was the most beautiful opportunity to express myself and tell my story through the lens. Letting go felt safe. The experience was calm, considered and deeply affirming.

What to wear
Simple clothing photographs particularly well in my studio.
Black is always a good place to begin. Neutrals, clean shapes and interesting textures also work well.
Bring clothing that fits properly and that you feel comfortable wearing.
You do not need to buy anything new.
Before your session, I will help you decide what to bring and how the different pieces can work together.
