Couple Maternity Photography
The two of you before you became three
A maternity portrait does not have to belong to the pregnant woman alone.
There is another person waiting too.
Your partner can be part of the session from the beginning, join you for a few photographs, or simply step in when it feels right.
There is no prescribed way to photograph the two of you.

You do not need to gaze at each other on command or manufacture affection for the camera.
I will direct you where necessary and then give you room to settle.
Sometimes the photograph is an embrace.
Sometimes it is a laugh.
Sometimes it is simply the way you are together.
The relationship is already there.
Before everything changes
Pregnancy creates an odd little interval.
You are still the two people you were before.
But somebody else is already part of almost every conversation about what comes next.
A couple maternity portrait can hold that brief time.
The two of you before you became three.

What to wear together
Keep it simple.
You do not need matching outfits.
Black and neutral clothing work particularly well in my studio. Choose clothes that sit comfortably together without becoming the subject of the photograph.

Your maternity session
Couple portraits can form part of your maternity session alongside photographs of you alone.
For most pregnancies, I recommend being photographed between 30 and 35 weeks.
I will direct both of you throughout. Neither of you needs to know what to do in front of the camera.
