Movement in light portraits explore the body through tone, form and control — not performance.
Created in my Johannesburg studio, this work focuses on how light shapes the body into something sculptural.
Where movement slows.
Simplifies.
Becomes presence.
These are not fast moments.
They are considered studies of balance, tension and stillness — where the body is seen as form within light.
This work is built on restraint.
Each portrait is guided slowly, allowing the body to settle into shapes that feel intentional rather than performed.
Light is used to define edges.
To soften transitions.
To reveal structure.
The result is a series of images that feel quiet, controlled, and enduring.
These portraits are created for people who understand their bodies — dancers, performers, athletes, and those whose movement is shaped by discipline and awareness.
Some arrive needing portfolio images.
Others come to mark a moment in time.
In both cases, the aim is the same:
To create work that reflects not just how the body looks — but what it holds.
